FAQ
How long do spices keep?
Most spices don’t spoil, but they do lose flavor over time. Whole spices hold their flavor for about 2–3 years, while ground spices are best used within 6–9 months.
Why do spices lose flavor?
Why do spices lose flavor?Flavor comes from essential oils. Over time, those oils evaporate, taking aroma and taste with them. Grinding spices releases those oils immediately—great for flavor, but it also speeds up that loss. That’s why freshly ground spices are more vibrant, and why we recommend buying smaller amounts more often.
How should I store my spices?
Keep spices in airtight containers, away from sunlight, heat, and moisture. Avoid storing them near the stove or on a windowsill.
How can I grind spices at home?
Use a spice grinder, mortar and pestle, or a dedicated coffee grinder. For coffee grinders, run uncooked rice through afterward to clean out oils and prevent flavor transfer.
How are your spices different from grocery store spices?
It comes down to freshness, selection, flexibility, and value.
- Freshness: Ground in small batches and blended in-house
- Selection: 300+ options, from everyday staples to hard-to-find spices
- Sizes: Buy what you need—from small bags to full bottles
- Value: Often less expensive per bottle than grocery store equivalents
Are your products gluten-free?
All of our spices and blends are gluten-free. For prepackaged items without a gluten-free label, we can’t guarantee they are free from gluten.
